Ladies when it comes to beauty and how we look, what would you say your most vain about? Your Eyes? Maybe it’s your body. Our hair, the one thing in life that we as women, have a serious love-hate relationship with. Daily our hair is put through the wringer, literally. With wind beating it, the sun hammering down on it, dirt, , and let us not forget the stresses we put it through with our daily hair routine with gels, sprays, hot tools, etc.
“But Sherryable, I don’t have the money to go to the salon every month just to have my hair washed.” That’s ok because with this how-to I will be leaving you with instructions on how to give yourself a hair spa treatment, at home, and for a fraction of the cost. I mean who doesn’t love to save money. And what a great way to spend time with the girls, by having a spa party.
Benefits of Treatment
The Hair Spa Treatment usually consists of 4-steps: Oil massage, Steaming, Shampoo, and Mask. Experts say that you can reverse hair damage, promote hair growth, and prevent hair breakage, and that’s not all. Here are just a few positive outcomes of doing a hair treatment.
Removes impurities from scalp and hair roots
unclogs scalp pores.
Improves and stimulates blood circulation.
Normalizes oil secretion.
Moisturizes hair and scalp.
Effective in reducing dandruff.
Reduces stress
It Relieves Tension And Relaxes The Shoulders
It Strengthens Your Hair Follicles
Step #1: Oil Massage
The first step we take is an Oil Massage. Take 2 tablespoons of coconut/olive oil and warm it in the microwave. Add a drop or two of Vitamin E oil to the mixture and massage your scalp for 10 minutes. Begin by gently using deep circular motions, this will promote blood circulation to the scalp and help relieve tension. Make sure to spread the oil along the length of your hair covering each and every strand.
Step #2: Steaming
After deeply massaging the oil into your scalp, we are now going to steam the hair for at least 20 minutes to seal the product in and restore the hair’s moisture. Wrap your hair into a loose bun and then put on a shower cap. This will trap in heat and open your pores, allowing the oil to penetrate deeper into the scalp and nourish the hair.
Step #3: Shampoo
Wash your hair using lukewarm water, (using hot water will cause damage after all the repairing that we are trying to do). I recommend that you use enough mild sulfate-free shampoo to get the oil out.
Step #4: Mask
Choose and prepare your hair mask. You can use any type of hair mask you want. Whether it is one you get from a salon store in a pack, one that you buy at the store, or a homemade one would be even better (which you can find online) Your going to apply the hair mask, starting from your roots all the way down to your ends. Make sure to coat each and every strand paying close attention to the ends, which is where the most damage is. You can even use a comb to comb the mask through the hair detangling it and creating even distrubition. If you have long hair, pull it up into a lose bun after you finish applying your hair mask, and then cover it with a shower cap. Leave it on for 20-30 minutes.
Rinse off the mask thoroughly with shampoo and lukewarm water.
Wrapping Up
Your hair treatment should contain ingredients that will address your specific hair needs. Hair spa treatments contribute to a healthy scalp and nourished lush hair. A spa treatment should be done at least once a month. However, taking care of your hair after treatment is as important as getting it done. Avoid using tools that produce too much heat and remember to not put your hair up too tightly. A hair spa treatment will last for about 15-30 days, if you follow the don’ts mentioned above and have a good hair care regimen.
